4/27/11

It's been a hectic couple of weeks...

My wife took a week long vacation to the hospital for surgery & recovery. Also, my little brother is getting deployed to Afghanistan and I'm heading to North Carolina to visit with him before he leaves.

As a result, the mix for "Dear Reason" still isn't done & I haven't made any progress on a video treatment for it or a live track to allow me to play songs live by myself.

Some stuff is moving along, though. Chemcoma played in Elkhart on Saturday night (4/23) and we showed off a few new songs that we've been working into the set. So far the new stuff consists of meaner versions of 80s tunes. Seriously, who covers Eddie Money? We do.

I've been transcribing songs this week to beef up our acoustic set. They are some meaner, hard rock songs that we've toned down.

You should probably come to a show & see this. :-)

The shows calendar at www.chrisjuneind.com will have all of the details on upcoming dates.

In other news, Chemcoma got a draft back of the "Something to Die for" video over the weekend. We made some suggestions, Adam did some more tweaking, & we have *what we believe to be* the final version of the video back now. Adam has to add some titles, we have to pay him, & then this thing will go live for everyone to check out. I might be partial, but I think it looks pretty cool. Hopefully next week's blog will have a link for you.

That's all for now. I'm off to North Carolina.

See you next week!

Well, I've been spending some late nights in the studio & I finally feel like I'm really close to having the mix & master of "Dear Reason" done. I've been working on artwork & brainstorming on a video treatment on breaks while getting some ear rest. I think the release is only going to be a couple or few weeks out.

As much fun as I had playing funny songs at my last solo show, I'm going to start building a track after the "Dear Reason" release so I can start playing my serious songs live. It'll just be me, an acoustic guitar, and probably some piano parts playing counter lines in the background. It would be a lot easier if I didn't have to incorporate the electronic element, but some of these songs just don't sound right without the extra parts. Plus, I want to play my guitar solos. :-)

The Frankfort Times ran an article on the 6th about my music endeavors. They gave me space on the bottom 3rd of the front page with the article continuing on another page! The story ran in response to the press release I sent them for the "Settling" release. Unfortunately, they didn't mention the song, Chris June IND, or ChrisJuneIND.com at all and misspelled Chemcoma. Regardless, I'm happy for the attention and maybe next time readers will be given more direction to what I'm doing.

Chemcoma has been hard at work learning some new songs to start mixing into the set over the next month. The songs reflect what we've been known to do cover-wise: Modern Rock songs that we dig and Classic Rock songs that we've updated. We're also anxiously awaiting getting back the "Something to Die for" video.

Thanks for stopping by again this week. Please direct any comments or suggestions through the contact form on ChrisJuneIND.com.

Whew, I almost forgot about this.

I spent most of last week promoting "Settling" (researching and bugging people of influence about getting it onto playlists of several radio and video outlets and printing and distributing flyers). Thanks again to everyone that's passed out flyers & helped spread the word online!

Chemcoma finally shot the video for "Something to Die for." It was a super fun experience, minus the skin I rubbed off & bruising on my arm. Hopefully this video portrays how hard I brought it for the shoot. Thanks to Adam Shewmaker for making the trip up to do the work. Early estimates are that we'll have it back in a few weeks. Cody has a pretty cool teaser video from the process. If you muscle him a little, maybe he'll make it live on YouTube.

I'm going to spend the rest of the week getting prepped to start recording the next Chris June IND song and putting a track together so I can play the songs live without them sounding too bare.

Now I'm off to the monthly Taste of Tippecanoe meeting.

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week!
