I have really let my blog schedule go. Apologies. The good news is it's because I've been hard at work in the studio getting the follow-up to "Settling" done.
Over the next couple of days I'll make some vocal tweaks & bounce down drum tracks. Then it's mix time.
The song, "Dear Reason," is a song that I wrote a few years ago. Chemcoma plays a version of it. Topically, it's kind of dark, but happy. My Granny, my favorite person in the world, passed away in 2009 and I penned the words in the time leading up to the loss in an effort to prepare myself for that day. Side note: she actually loved the song and the handwritten words are with her in her resting place.
Anyway, I gave the tune a facelift; switching it to more of a 6/8, swingy feel that would reflect something old Granny could boogie to...
I'm digging the way it's turning out & can't wait to share! The plan is to release this song & video simultaneously.
Hopefully Rhodes Amplification will be happy that I'm using my signature amp on the recording.
Until next time...
This is the source for the inside scoop on Chris June IND; including writing, recording, performing, etc. You'll get more dirt here than tweets & status updates. Typically, new blog entries get posted every Monday and whenever something too interesting to not write about happens. I’ll try to keep my entries short-winded and light-hearted. Maybe I can make them funny. We’ll see.

Whew, I almost forgot about this.
I spent most of last week promoting "Settling" (researching and bugging people of influence about getting it onto playlists of several radio and video outlets and printing and distributing flyers). Thanks again to everyone that's passed out flyers & helped spread the word online!
Chemcoma finally shot the video for "Something to Die for." It was a super fun experience, minus the skin I rubbed off & bruising on my arm. Hopefully this video portrays how hard I brought it for the shoot. Thanks to Adam Shewmaker for making the trip up to do the work. Early estimates are that we'll have it back in a few weeks. Cody has a pretty cool teaser video from the process. If you muscle him a little, maybe he'll make it live on YouTube.
I'm going to spend the rest of the week getting prepped to start recording the next Chris June IND song and putting a track together so I can play the songs live without them sounding too bare.
Now I'm off to the monthly Taste of Tippecanoe meeting.
Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week!

Yay, it's blog day!
First, apologies to the North Central Indiana Chemcoma peeps for having to cancel Saturday's show in Elkhart. There was a scheduling conflict with the venue. The good news is, we'll be up there on April 23rd. Perhaps that will work better with your schedule. :-)
It's been a great weekend for the IND biz with the "Settling" video going live on YouTube & ChrisJuneIND.com. Thanks to a lot of help from friends and family, we got it past 300 views. In my opinion, it's a victory for small-time efforts. I sincerely appreciate the help you've done spreading the word.
I have a flyer printed to help promote the song and video now & I'll be starting the Lafayette Pound the Ground Campaign to spread the word. If you feel inclined to help, send me a message through the 'contact' form at ChrisJuneIND.com & I can pass on more info. *Sorry, I won't post my email address online because I'm spam-a-phobic*
If you're free Wednesday night, I'll be hanging out at the Lafayette Theater for Open Mic Night. It runs from 7-11pm. I'll be down there a bit late because of a scheduling conflict with a guitar lesson; so maybe I'll be there 8:30-ish. I went last week & was blown away by the performers; and I had no idea who they were! I guess that, although Lafayette isn't huge & I have been a music scene contributor here for 13-something years, I still get surprised. I still stand by my claims that Lafayette, IN has more talent per capita than anywhere. Apologies for any beef I might start, but the 4790 owns.
Next week I'll have an update for how this weekend's video shoot for Chemcoma's "Something to Die for" goes. Plus, I'll give more info on internet radio and video distribution details for "Settling." Hopefully I'll make a 100% decision on what the follow-up song is going to be (I have it narrowed down to 3 songs)!
Once again, thanks for the help!
